ALL THINGS MICHIGAN PRINTS & GREETING CARDS

Graphic travel illustrations for a new series of Michigan prints.

MICHIGAN LIGHTHOUSES

A new graphic print series inspired by quilt designs, and a new part of my CANYONLANDS STUDIO fine art prints collection.

Working with a grid is an interesting experience. I have been exploring

the use of a grid to impose a rigid structure on my work. The technique is

both restrictive and liberating.

OLD MISSION POINT LIGHTHOUSE

Michigan has so many great lighthouses, but this one has always been

a favorite tucked away against the woods in autumn.

Soft sands and a wide beach make this a great destination.

Visited this lighthouse at the top of the thumb many times.

MICHIGAN SEASONS CALENDAR ART

"OCTOBER MICHIGAN" Calendar Art

Thinking of quilts and cubists on this design as I tried to re-create that feeling of late October light as the leaves are in full turn. I teach my students to illustrate with type like this, as though they were using any other important tool of composition.

"NOVEMBER MICHIGAN" Calendar

This design features the more muted tones of November. I am following up on the October design with another type experiment using Avenir as the font. Avenir has the verticality and simple sans serif look to match the straight shapes of birch trees.
